VinFast Unveils VF Wild Pickup Truck

0

Vietnamese electric vehicle start-up VinFast Auto made a significant impact at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas with the debut of its latest creation – the VF Wild pickup truck. While currently in prototype form at the event, VinFast has plans for production and sale of the truck in the near future. This comes as VinFast already offers two SUV models, the VF8 and VF9, in the U.S.

Often referred to as “wild” in teasers leading up to CES, VinFast has now given investors a glimpse of what to expect. This midsize truck, measuring approximately 209 inches long, will soon be competing with other popular options like the Tesla Cybertruck, Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Lightning, and Chevy Silverado in the U.S. market. Worth noting is that the Cybertruck spans around 224 inches in length, placing it in the full-size truck category.

Specific details regarding the availability and delivery timeline of the VF Wild in the U.S. are yet to be announced.

Ahead of the reveal, VinFast’s stock experienced a decline of roughly 2%. Simultaneously, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite faced a decrease of approximately 0.4%. However, it is important to recognize that VinFast’s stock has been subject to substantial volatility, with year-to-date shares falling by roughly 20%. Despite this, shares have rebounded by over 40% since reaching their low point on October 25.

Regardless of stock performance, this unveiling should be seen as a positive development for VinFast. Expanding their product line is a beneficial move for any electric vehicle start-up.

In addition to the VF Wild pickup truck, VinFast also revealed other standout innovations at CES. Among them is the DrgnFly electric bicycle and Mirror Sense, an automated mirror adjustment system that follows the driver’s gaze. In recognition of its innovation, Mirror Sense received a prestigious CES award.

While the DrgnFly and Mirror Sense are noteworthy, it is expected that investors and enthusiasts will primarily focus on the truck.
