Index publisher MSCI is exploring the launch of indexes for cryptocurrency assets as the financial markets continue to accept the trading of digital currencies, according to the report released by Yahoo Finance on Thursday.
Big banks such as Goldman Sachs, Visa, and MasterCard have made efforts to support cryptocurrencies. In the previous month, S&P and Dow Jones launched new cryptocurrency indexes, which brought bitcoin and ethereum to Wall Street.
The indexes, including S&P Crypto Mega Cap Index measures the progress and performance of the digital assets linked to them.
MSCI has been researching ways to increase their products’ offerings and cryptocurrencies open a new opportunity for the index publisher. By the close of 2020, the firm was responsible for guiding investors and fund managers in allocation estimated $14.5 trillion in assets globally.
The integration of the new crypto indexes opens opportunities for new investment opportunities for investors.
