Stock Gainers:

  • Nvidia Corp. (NVDA)‘s shares surged 8% after reporting a 141% increase in data-center sales and record results. This led to a 3% rise in shares of AI-rival Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) and third-party semiconductor foundry Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSM). Microchip equipment maker ASML Holding also saw a 2% increase in its stock.

  • Splunk Inc. (SPLK) saw its stock soar by 13% following the company’s strong quarterly revenue report and impressive sales guidance, surpassing analyst estimates.

  • Autodesk Inc. (ADSK) experienced a 5% jump in shares after reporting better-than-expected revenue and earnings for the fiscal second quarter.

  • Retailer Guess Inc. (GES) witnessed a rally of 19% as it exceeded Wall Street expectations for its fiscal second quarter, with increased sales in Europe and Asia.

  • Data-software company Snowflake Inc. (SNOW) maintained its forecast for the year, resulting in a 4% gain in its stock.

Stock Decliners:

  • Shares of Boeing fell by 2%, while Spirit AeroSystems‘ shares dropped by 4%. This decline followed the disclosure of an issue with fastener holes on Boeing 737 Max aircraft.

  • U.S. Steel experienced a 4% decrease in stock value, reaching $30.10. This decline continued from Wednesday after Esmark withdrew its offer for the company, which is currently being pursued by Cleveland-Cliffs.
