U.K. Stocks Increase on Monday

The U.K. stock market showed positive movement on Monday, with the FTSE 100 Index (UKX) finishing up at 7,699.41, reflecting a 0.07% increase.

Top Gainers

Several companies within the FTSE 100 saw significant gains on Monday. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (IAG) experienced the largest increase, with shares rising by 3.60%. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (SMT), a closed-end funds firm, and Rightmove PLC (RMV), a real estate developers company, also performed well, with their stocks rallying by 2.19% and 2.08% respectively. Antofagasta PLC (ANTO), a non-ferrous metals company, and Fresnillo PLC (FRES), a precious metals business, rounded out the top five gainers, posting increases of 2.04% and 1.95% respectively.

Top Losers

Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (RR) experienced the largest drop among FTSE 100 constituents on Monday, with shares falling by 4.37%. Ocado Group PLC (OCDO), a food retail firm, and Coca-Cola HBC AG (CCH), a non-alcoholic beverages/drinks company, also faced declines, with their stocks dropping by 3.89% and 2.68% respectively. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (HL), an investment advisors company, and J Sainsbury PLC (SBRY), a food retail firm, were among the top five companies with the largest decreases, as their stocks dropped by 2.52% and 1.84% respectively.

Currency and Commodities

The pound showed a slight increase against the dollar, rising by 0.05% to $1.2856, and a marginal increase of 0.04% against the euro, settling at €1.1667. Brent crude rallied by 1.1% to $85.34, while the yield on the 10-year gilt reached 4.308%, dropping 1.820 basis points.
