European stocks showed a downward trend on Friday, with the Stoxx Europe 600 index XX:SXXP closing down 0.11% at 460.83. The German DAX DX:DAX declined 0.22% to 16,105.07, while the FTSE 100 index UK:UKX and the French CAC 40 index FR:PX1 remained flat at 7,434.57 and 7,374.54, respectively.
Major Declines Among Stoxx Europe 600 Constituents
Technology company Samhaellsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden AB Series B SE:SBB experienced the largest decline among the Stoxx Europe 600 constituents on Friday, with shares tumbling by 11.0%. Similarly, shares of technology firm Telefon AB L.M. Ericsson Series B SE:ERIC and fossil fuels company Orron Energy AB SE:ORRON plunged by 10.6% and 10.3%, respectively. Nokia Corp. FI:NOKIA, a technology company, and real estate/construction firm Fluidra S.A. ES:FDR also had significant decreases, as their stocks weakened by 9.4% and 8.8%, respectively.
Notable Increases in Shares
On the other hand, Viaplay Group AB Series B SE:VPLAY, a media/entertainment company, witnessed the largest increase among the Stoxx Europe 600 constituents, with shares surging by 14.3% on Friday. Investing/securities firm Partners Group Holding AG CH:PGHN and food/beverages/tobacco company Orkla ASA NO:ORK gained 12.0% and 5.2% in their share prices, respectively. Dr. Martens PLC UK:DOCS, a clothing/textiles company, and investing/securities business EQT AB SE:EQT also saw notable increases, with their stocks rising by 5.2% and 3.4%, respectively.
Currency and Oil Outlook
The pound GBPUSD experienced a 0.23% decrease against the dollar, while the euro EURUSD saw a 0.06% increase. Furthermore, Brent crude UK:BRN00 declined by 1.27% to $80.33.
Bond Yields
The yield on the 10-year gilt BX:TMBMKGB-10Y rose by 2.40 basis points to 4.450%. Similarly, the yield on the German 10-year bund BX:TMBMKDE-10Y increased by 6.190 basis points to 2.51%.
